The Latest (Part 1)

In my recent update post I announced that there would be new series coming soon to this blog. As you might have figured out by now, I am true to my word. This is the inaugural post of a new series I’ve decided to title “The Latest” in which I’ll be covering whatever is of interest to me at the time. That includes music I’m listening to, television I’m watching, books I’m reading, and anything else that is keeping me occupied.

Music:

BROCKHAMPTON’s recent album GINGER has been on repeat for the most part as of late. I have not wavered from the bold 10/10 score that I gave the album, as every listen gives it more depth and gives me more appreciation for the group altogether. I’ve seriously been mulling purchasing tickets for their 11/20 Atlanta stop on the Love Me For Life tour, which would be a dream come true. Otherwise, I’ve been revisiting Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD and Ariana Grande’s thank u, next, two projects that just seem to fit the mood of living in a downtown urban environment.

Television:

Speaking of Travis Scott, La Flame’s recent Netflix documentary Look Mom I Can Fly gave an interesting and entertaining peak behind the curtain for one of the most high-energy performers in the rap game right now. I have seen Travis live twice, but now have even more of an appreciation of him as an artist after watching his documentary. Season two of Netflix’s Mindhunter is getting a second watch from me, as I’m rewatching it with my girlfriend who has not yet seen the second season. If you enjoy murder mysteries or just good TV in general, I highly recommend this impressive and suspenseful show.

Books:

I’ve been wanting to make the transition from a digital library of audiobooks to physical copies, but that takes time, patience, and money. Right now I’m revisiting the late Toni Morrison’s Beloved which has themes that will be eternally relevant. I’m also finally coming back around to finishing and committing to Tara Westover’s shocking and best-selling autobiographical memoir Educated which seems to require my full uninterrupted attention. Always looking for new reads.

Other:

Besides what I previously touched on, school work and this blog have been getting a lot of my attention in free time. Taking only four classes almost has me eager to receive assignments, which is a mindset that I haven’t had yet up until this point. Also, rolling right along with the hype, I’ve been playing Minecraft which despite its reputation allows different parts of my brain that aren’t usually active (spatial planning, etc.) to flex their weak muscles. It has been fun.

I hope you enjoy the idea behind this series! It won’t be featured as often as some of the other series on this blog, but the occasional post once things start to change will be fun to update. Thanks for reading!
